The Credit Program
Our Credit Program consists of many components, all of which combine to accomplish the important work that we do during the session. We strive to use as much French language as possible throughout the entire day in authentic situations. In our daily schedule, time is allotted for language classes, elective courses with a focus on discussion/conversation, activity groups, cultural presentations, singing together, cleaning- with direction provided in French- and short dramatic and/or comedic presentations. Language, culture, and global perspectives, as well as personal challenges actually merge continually during all of our activities, formal and informal, all day long, all session long.
On two summer days every year, all Language Villages unite for International Day at the Turtle River Lake site in Bemidji, Minnesota. They take part in activities such as French Voyageur canoe rides, international line-dancing.
Some highlights of the day include the rededication of the Peace Site and the United Nations Summit simulation. This summer, delegates from all Language Villages villagers including Lac du Bois took part in the discussion on sustainable management of global water resources.
